Capt. John 10 Hour Offshore August 27, 2016

The party boat Capt. John’s 10 hour offshore fishing trip today was headed up by Captain Johnny Williams. He had his 80 anglers fishing  production platforms from 15 to 30 miles to the East of the island.

Using baits of cut squid or whole Spanish sardines that were fished from near the surface to the bottom they had this catch biting and joining them on deck:

270 Atlantic spadefish

39 Bonnethead shark

11 Bluefish

10 Gulf trout

1 Spanish mackerel

2 Whiting

1 Bermuda chub

A ling, estimated at 40 pounds almost joined the catch but somehow dehooked itself just as it was about to be gaffed. I bring that up to mention the fact that ling and also kingfish can also be in the mix these days.
