Capt. John 10 Hour Offshore Sunday July 24, 2016

Captain Johnny Williams was in the drivers seat for todays 10 hour offshore fishing trip by the party boat Capt. John.

Platforms off to the east and southeast were fished. Using baits of cut squid or whole Spanish sardines thru the 40 to 50 foot water column the anglers brought in another multi-species catch.

While a few kingfish were taken on “freelined” sardines on a wire rigs the Atlantic spadefish was “king”today. Small pieces of cut squid on small circle hooks, fished about 5 to 8 feet down did the trick. The platforms also gave them bonnethead shark and a few others.

Catch totals were:

533 Atlantic spadefish

4 Kingfish

1 Mangrove snapper

1 Rainbow runner

32 Bonnethead shark

If you have never caught or eaten an Atlantic spadefish put it on your “must do” list, they are usually plentiful and biting…get aboard and experience it for yourself.

See you on the Capt. John!
