Capt. John 10 Hour Offshore Friday July 29, 2016

Captain Johnny Williams was in the drivers seat again for todays 10 hour offshore fishing trip by the party boat Capt. John.

Four platforms (rigs) were fished from 13 to 18 miles out. The gulf was a clear to just off color green, with a gentle swell of a foot or so. The usual baits of cut squid or whole Spanish sardines were fished from near the surface to the bottom. The primary catch today, Atlantic spadefish, requires the use of small pieces of cut squid. Those with the patience of waiting for a solid hookup with the circle hooks used did well. Several were observed with stringers of 30 plus. Hard pulling for their size and delicious on the plate, Atlantic spadefish the days total catch consisted of :

228 Atlantic spadefish

1 Ling

37 Bonnethead shark

2 Kingfish

1 Stingray

2 Whiting

2 Blue runner

3 Spanish mackerel

2 Gulf Trout

See you on the Capt. John!
