Capt. John 10 Hour Offshore Saturday October 1, 2016

With 68 of us anglers aboard the party boat Capt. John left Galveston’s Pier 19 with Captain Jill Williams  at the helm.

The days first stop for this 10 hour offshore fishing trip was at a production platform about fourteen miles to the East of the island. Hitting the baits of cut squid were Atlantic spadefish and the usual red snappers which were quickly released due to their being out of season.

After leaving that first platform a run of about half an hour had the boat approaching the next platform. The two to three foot swell of sort of sandy green water gave about the same fishing results except for a few added bonnethead sharks.

The final platform fished again about half an hour run from the second. This platform had the variety being caught going up..added to the Atlantic spadefish, released red snapper and bonnethead catch were bluefish, Spanish mackerel and “others” including the estimated 125 pound stingray.

At the 3:30 p.m. leave to Pier 19 this total catch had been taken:

288 Atlantic spadefish

67 Bonnethead shark

4 Bluefish

1 Stingray

2 Bluerunner

4 Spanish mackerel

1 Croaker

1 Bermuda chub

See you on the Capt. John!
